Crochet Bow Headband Tutorial

This lovely bow headband is super cute. It can be crocheted quickly and can be for the last minute gift. A detailed description with crochet charts and step-by-step instructions is below. The crochet pattern is written in standard American terms.

Gauge

25 stitches dc = 4” (10 cm); 10 rows dc = 4” (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Materials

♥ Yarn: small amount of yarn in each color (A&B)
A: Blush Pink,
B: Seafoam Blue,
♥ Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm,
♥ Scissors.

Stitches

Abbreviations

A, B = Color A, B; ch(s) = chains; mm = millimeters; cm = centimeters; sc = single crochet; st(s) = stitch(es); [ ] = work directions in brackets the number of times specified.

Special Stitches

dc2tog (double crochet 2 together) = [Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch or space and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
dc3tog (double crochet 3 together) = [Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch or space and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Written instructions

Bind

With A, ch 9.
Row 1: ch 3, dc in fourth ch from hook and in next 8 ch.
Row 2-42: ch 3, turn, dc in each st to the end of the row.
Note: 42 rows is the size of babies and toddlers. Add rows to reach the desired size.

Bow

With B, ch 1.
Row 1: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in the 4th st from hook.
Rows 2: ch 3, turn, [2 dc in 1 st] 2 times.
Row 3-4: ch 3, turn, 3 dc in 1 st, dc in each st to the 2nd st from end of row, 3 dc in the remaining st.
Row 5-6: ch 3, turn, dc3tog in the first 3 sts, dc in each st to the 4th st from end of row, dc3tog in the 3 remaining sts.
Row 7: ch 3, turn, dc2tog in the first 2 sts, dc2tog in the 2 remaining sts.
Row 8: ch 3, turn, dc2tog in the 2 sts.

Row 9: ch 1.

Repeat rows 1-8 consecutively one more time, so that’s 17 rows in all.

FINISHING

Steps to finish the band Follow this steps to attach both ends of the Band.

Attach Bow: Grap the band and tie the bow around it in the position where you have attached the two ends. You just need a single knot.
