“Boarding To Nice.” Plane: Welcome to Tunis! 😅 Me: Okay but Tunis gave me crochet fish instead 🐠🧶 Free pattern available here → grab it now! This summer, two young American travelers went viral after their trip took an unexpected turn.
They thought they were boarding a flight to Nice, France… but instead, the plane was headed to Tunis, Tunisia. A mix-up in Rome, a ticket that said “Tunis” instead of “Nice,” and suddenly their vacation story changed completely.
Their videos spread everywhere. Some people laughed, some were shocked, others started sharing their own travel mishaps. But in the middle of all the memes, one thing became very clear: Tunisia was suddenly in the spotlight.
🌊 A Tunisian Summer of Crochet
And that’s where my story connects. While this To Nice To Tunis travel mix-up was taking over TikTok, I was on a Tunisian beach in Djerba, crocheting amigurumi fish keychains.
Not just any fish: three playful, summer-inspired designs you can use as crochet bag charms, DIY crochet gifts, or unique handmade souvenirs. With the waves behind me and the Mediterranean breeze around, it felt like I was “catching” them straight from the sea — stitch by stitch.
🐠 What Do Crochet Fish Have to Do with This Story?
Well, sometimes the wrong destination can still bring you to the right inspiration. The travelers ended up in Tunisia by accident.
I ended up creating crochet fish patterns that reflect Tunisia’s sea, color, and creativity — on purpose.
Both stories remind us that unexpected journeys can still give us something to keep forever.

🌍 Tunisia: More Than Just a Travel Mix-Up
The TikTok story started with confusion, but maybe it’s also a chance to see Tunisia differently. It’s not just an “oops” destination — it’s beaches, history, crafts, flavors, and creativity.Crochet is just one small thread in that tapestry. My little crochet fish designs are a playful way to bring a bit of that summer Tunisian vibe to your own hands, wherever you are.
So next time you hear “To Nice” or “To Tunis”, remember: either way, you might end up with a story worth telling.
And maybe, with a fish worth crocheting. 🐟✨
