Adding Jute to Your Crochet Fish
To give your crochet fish a natural, coastal look, you can add jute twine along the edge. It adds texture, contrast, and also makes it easy to hang. Here’s how:Prepare your jute:
Cut a piece of jute long enough to run along the entire edge of the fish.
Attach the jute:
Thread a yarn needle with jute and leave about 5–7 cm free for hanging. Starting at the fish’s mouth, whip stitch along one edge of your finished fish.
Work around the fish:
Continue whip stitching all the way around, making sure the jute stays flat and visible along the side. This will create the rustic two-tone border shown in the photo.
Form the hanging loop:
When you return to the starting point, leave another 5–7 cm of jute free. Tie a small knot or form a simple loop so your fish can hang from a hook, keyring, or as wall décor.
Finishing touches:
Trim the ends neatly, and if you like, you can secure the knot with a drop of clear glue to prevent fraying.
By finishing this beginner-friendly crochet pattern, you’ll have more than just a fish — you’ll have a handmade memory, a reminder of how small projects can carry big stories. These crochet fish are quick to make, but they hold a special charm that connects us through craft and creativity. Don’t forget to share your finished fish with #sweetsamdesign and #ToNiceToTunisCrochetFish, so together we can continue this crochet journey across seas and stitches.
