Materials

♥ Yarn: Pattern uses 4 colors and 2 weights.
A: Green | Light fingering.
B: Cream | Sport.
C: Brown | Sport.
D: Orange | Sport.
♥ Crochet Hook: 2.5 mm,
♥ Scissors.

Note

You can use any type of yarn to crochet this bookmark. Just check the label to see what size hook corresponds with the weight of your yarn.

Stitches

Abbreviations

A, B, C, D = colors A, B, C, D;
st(s) = stitch(es);
ch(s) = chain(s);
dc = double crochet;
hdc = half double crochet;
mc = magic circle (magic loop);
Puff (3 hdc cluster) = 3 half double crochet cluster;
sc = single crochet; sl st = slip stitch;
[ ] = work directions in brackets the number of times specified.

Special Stitches

Puff = 3 hdc cluster (3 half double crochet cluster) = [Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch and draw up a loop] 3 times, yarn over and draw through 6 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

Puff starting stitch= start with pulling the loop on hook to be same height as a double crochet stitch then complete as described above.
Starting stitch is used at the beginning of a row.

V = puff, ch1, puff (puff stitches are crocheted in the same ch1-space).

Written Pattern

Stem

With A, make mc,
Row 1: ch 1 to secure the magic loop and then ch 2, 2 dc in magic loop, ch 2, sl st in magic loop.

Then, make puff in magic loop, [puff in top of previous puff stitch] 3 times, ch 100, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc, dc, 3 dc in 1 st, hdc, sc, sl st in next st, turn sideways and continue along the other side, sc in remaining loop of next ch, hdc, hdc, 3 dc in 1 st, dc, sc in each of next 3 ch, join with sl st in the turning ch.

Flower

Join B with slip st in 3rd ch made,
Row 2: puff in 3rd ch made, [ch 1, puff] 3 times (In next 3 stitches).

Join C with slip st in 1st ch of previous row,
Row 3: V in 1st ch-1 space, [ch 1, V] 2 times (In next 2 ch-1 spaces).

Join D with slip st in 1st ch of previous row.
Row 4: V in 1st ch-1 space, [ch 1, V] 4 times (In next 4 ch-1 spaces).

Row 5: turn, 2 sc in each of next 9 ch-1 spaces.

Row 6: turn, sc in next 2 st, [sc in next 2 st, ch3] 7 times, sc in next 2 st.

With C, make surface slip stitches from the 2nd st of row 5 to the penultimate stitch of this row.
